Airports in Tenerife – North and South

For the relatively small island, Tenerife boasts two internationally based airports, one in the South and another in the North. It’s here that the similarities end and the different parts of the island are pretty contrasting.

Tenerife is one of the islands in the Canaries renowned for its golden coastline. Thousands flock here for countless fun water activities with beautiful views and world-class amusements. Tenerife is the largest island in the Canary Islands and has a high tourist profile. Tourism has a major impact on economic development in Tenerife. The establishment of international airport facilities would thus be one of the best ways of achieving this.

The amazing volcano Teide in the middle of the island makes for a rather different climate on the island if you compare north vs south.

There are two airports located in Tenerife, one in the southeast of the island (TFS) and the other in the northeast of the island: Tenerife North–Ciudad de La Laguna Airport (TFN), formerly known as Los Rodeos.

The south airport is close to Playa las Americas and Los Cristianos whereas the northern airport is close to the cities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Puerto de la Cruz.

The holidays for a relatively isolated archipelago such as the Canaries start and end in airports. Sometimes it becomes a turning point for a journey. Gladly Tenerife has taken tourism seriously and has taken immense efforts to deliver the best trip possible, and has a lot to offer even if you’re traveling with kids. Its attention manifests itself in its airports which both work effectively and provide all the necessary amenities much to the satisfaction of its visitors.

Tenerife South Airport and Tenerife North Airport together provide the largest passenger flow between the Canary Islands. It is also deemed to be the primary entry/outgoing point to the archipelago.

I love to travel and explore the world with my family. When I'm not traveling, time is usually spent enjoying time with my wife and kids at home, playing with the dogs, or roaming around with a camera.
