Looking for a quiet resort in Tenerife that is away from the crowds? Look no further than Puerto Santiago. This lovely little town is located in the west of the island and it has everything you need for a relaxing break. There are no noisy bars or nightclubs, so you can enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. The weather is wonderful all year round, so you can always enjoy some sunshine!

Puerto Santiago is part of the municipality of Santiago del Teide and is located in a not-so-crowded part of the popular island of Tenerife.

What to do in Puerto Santiago?

Puerto de Santiago is an excellent choice for a relaxing and quiet vacation in Tenerife. If you are looking for a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas, this is the place for you. The resort is mainly geared towards families with small children and couples looking for a peaceful holiday, but there are some bars and karaoke places if you’re looking for a little evening entertainment. This lovely resort is easy reachable whichever of Tenerife’s two airports you arrive at.

During the day, there are plenty of things to do in Puerto Santiago. You can lounge on one of the many beaches, go for a swim, or take a walk along the promenade. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can hike up to the nearby volcano, Teide, or take a boat trip out to one of the other islands. No matter what you decide to do, you’re sure to have a relaxing and enjoyable time in Puerto Santiago.

Beaches in Puerto Santiago

Like all the beaches around this part of Tenerife, they are made out of black volcanic sand. In Puerto Santiago, you have two beaches close by.

Playa Chica

The pristine waters of Playa Chica are protected by a reef that creates inviting waves, perfect for swimming. There is always something exciting happening here – whether it’s people jumping into the ocean at high tide or enjoying some natural pools nearby such as Charco Los Chocos (which has amazing views), La Cuevita, and Pris Primero/Pris Segundo.

Puerto Santiago beach is a small, black sand paradise with crystal clear water. It’s situated below street level and accessed by stairs. During the summer months it becomes a crowded popular spot for locals as well tourists alike!

It’s a relatively small beach, only 50 meters long and about 20 meters wide.

There are no sun loungers available at this venue but there will be amenities such as showers, which make sure everyone stays clean while they enjoy their time on land.

If you fancy a good walk, there’s a promenade from Playa Chica that goes all the way to Los Gigantes in the north to Alcala in the south.

Playa La Arena

La Arena is a short walk away, with more pubs and restaurants as well as the picturesque Playa de la Arena beach. A beach in a lovely natural setting with views of La Gomera’s neighboring island.

The beach at Playa la Arena is not only beautiful but also very clean and offers plenty of facilities for visitors. This means that it has been awarded the Blue Flag distinction since 1989 continuously – making this one of Tenerife’s most clean beaches!

Located in the west of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Playa la Arena is a popular spot among tourists due to its dark black sand and exotic feel. The beach gets rougher at times so sometimes you will see a red flag deployed which means it’s forbidden for people to enter the water.

During these periods there are strong currents that can make inexperienced swimmers lose their balance easily or worse yet get stuck under rocks thrown onto shore by waves crashing against them! But all this danger does not stop day-trippers from coming just looking forward enjoy themselves even if only once before returning home safely after spending some quality bonding time at the black sand beach together, and after some good food served up fresh off grillers just waiting patiently to be devoured.

The beach at Playa de la Arena is perfect for those who want to relax on their vacation while visiting Puerto de Santiago. You can find amenities such as sun loungers, public toilets, and restaurants along the promenade that will satisfy your every need while you are here!

The best local restaurants to try in Puerto de Santiago

As with every small town in Tenerife, there are many restaurants available to you.

La Quinta Restaurante

Av. Marítima Puerto de Santiago, 31

The restaurant has an intimate atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. The seafood soup – hearty yet smooth-tasting–is a must-try for those who enjoy traditional Spanish cuisine like myself! My favorite dish was the La Quinta Salad which came complete with a generous helping of fresh produce from the Canary Islands.

If you’re longing for seafood (who doesn’t while in Tenerife?) you don’t want to miss out on their Calamares A La Andaluza or Langostinos Al Ajillo.

This is a lovely restaurant with very friendly and helpful staff to accommodate your needs.

Poggetto Ristorante Italiano

Av. Marítima Puerto de Santiago, 22

If you’re looking for a delicious, authentic Italian dining experience while in Puerto Santiago, look no further than Poggetto Ristorante Italiano. This family-run restaurant offers a traditional Italian kitchen with homemade pasta and fresh produce sourced from local markets. The menu features regional classics as well as seasonal specialties, all of which can be paired with an extensive wine list. The bar also offers a wide selection of local wines, which are perfect for pairing with your meal. The staff at Alfonso’s Bar is friendly and knowledgeable, and they are always willing to help you find the perfect dish for your tastes. The Chicken Shack

Pasaje Agustín Herrera Gonzales, 15

Tired of the Spanish cuisine and want to indulge in some British food? The Chicken Shack to your rescue!

The owner, Steve, is from Scotland and the restaurant is serving traditional salads, chips, and chicken. The menu is simple, but the food is really good. You have to try their spicy chicken with chips, it’s amazing!

It’s usually rather crowded so be sure to be here in time if you don’t want to wait.
